Attend College at Home or Abroad?

As a saying goes, “a prophet is not without honor save in his own country”. Nowadays, it is common that an increasing number of students would like to attend college abroad rather than study at home, with the belief that there are more advanced teaching methods and more superior learning environment abroad. However, I totally disagree with it.

First of all, there is no denying that education abroad has its advantages, but this blind worship of foreign education sometimes ignores the goodness of education at home and exaggerates education abroad. For example, not all students who have returned from studying abroad do better in their jobs than students studying at home. Secondly, cultural differences decides on educational differences SO that it is not easy for students to adapt to the loose education environment in foreign countries and form a good self-study habit. The last but the most fundamental reason is that studying abroad needs a large amount of money that average families can not afford.

Therefore, I hold the view that if students are the ones without strong consciousness and enough money, they had better attend college at home, since they can receive good guidance offered by the teachers in the process of studying and it needs less money.
