Walking and Health
Walking is the easiest and most economic kind of sport. Unlike running and other sports, it can be achieved by anyone at any time with no need of special facilities. Walking, as a wonderful and pleasant sport, can make the elderly keep their vigorous energy and prolong their lives.
Walking is of significance to man’ s health. It makes active almost every system of the body and promotes normal metabolism. Meanwhile, walking helps the brain to maintain a high level of alertness. Surprisingly, recent study reveals another effect of this sport—that is to keep fit and lose weight.
There are five types of walking; common walking, fast walking, walking in the opposite direction with arms back, walking with arms swinging and walking with hands massaging the abdomen. Each one of these has its distinct health care importance and everyone can choose his or her own right type.
To achieve a maximum effect, some walking instructions should also be followed. If walking is for training purpose, then parks or places with plants are preferred. Besides, it is highly recommended that exercises are taken in the evening rather than in the morning.
