Water Shortage

Water is indispensable in our daily lives. Without water, both human beings and any other living things could not live; neither agriculture nor industry could exist, and the development of economy would become meaningless.

Unfortunately, we are facing a serious water shortage. It mainly results from the terrible waste of water resources and heavy pollution in some rivers and lakes. Because of the pollution, the water in those rivers and lakes is no longer drinkable or available for other purposes. And the uneven distribution of water resources also causes severe water shortage in some areas. Of course, the large population of our nation is another factor that is closely related to water shortage.

Then how can we solve the water shortage problem? The most effective way, in my view, is that we should not waste any water. Everyone should develop a good habit of saving every drop of water. We must try our best to protect the rivers and lakes from being polluted when we develop economy. The government should carry out some projects to divert water to the areas where water is in severe shortage and bring in some projects to desalinate large amounts of sea water to make drinking water. We are convinced that after taking these measures, the problem of water shortage will be eased to some extent.
