Zheng He is the most outstanding navigator in Chinese history, showcasing extraordinary wisdom and exceptional talent in many fields such as navigation, diplomacy and military affairs. He led a massive fleet on seven voyages to visit many countries and regions in the western Pacific and Indian Oceans, deepening mutual understanding between China and Southeast Asia and East Africa.

Zheng He’s voyages to the West not only facilitated extensive economic and cultural exchanges between China and other nations but also made great contributions to maintaining regional peace. To commemorate Zheng He and his remarkable achievements, July 11, the day when he embarked on his first expedition with a large fleet, has been designated as China’s Maritime Day.
