The picture above shows us the changes of the average daily time spent on short videos from 2017 to 2022. To be specific, the increase was relatively steady from 2017 to 2021, while after 2021, there was a rapid growth in the time spent on short videos. This change is self-evident.

In my opinion, this phenomenon is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, as cell phones have become an integral part of our life, almost everyone has access to short videos. With more and more people facing tremendous pressure today, watching short videos helps them get rid of anxiety, which I believe is good for their mental health and future development. On the other hand, many people, especially the young, have become addicted to short videos, which is detrimental to their health and study.

Taking into account what has been discussed above, we may safely come to the conclusion that if we could strictly limit the amount of time spent on short videos per day, they will serve as an effective method to improve our cognitive ability.
