The Importance of Combining Theory with Practice

As the picture shows, a boy is reading an encyclopedia, which says that the fish can not live without water. So he just chooses to fish in a well.

As we all know, deep well wa-ter comes from the underground reservoir where no fish lives. The boy just does as the book says and catches no fish at all. It is unwise to just follow the books without any thinking. Firstly, as the old saying goes, to believe everything in books is worse than to have no books at all. If we fully believe what the books say, we are more likely to get the wrong or one-sided information. Secondly, theories in the book are not always applicable to reality. Without being analyzed, they may bring about troubles. Lastly, it is very important for us to develop our ability to think in-dependently.

In conclusion, we cannot merely copy the theories in the book without any thinking. Instead, we should combine theory with practice, so that we can solve problems effectively.
