According to the pie chart, elderly people living alone or with their spouses take up the highest proportion of 47.6％, while the aged living with their children and in nursing homes account for 33.5％ and 13％ respectively.

The pie chart reflects the empty nester phenomenon, which can be explained by two main reasons. Firstly, young people nowadays are leaving their homes for better education and more job opportunities in big cities, where they can barely feed themselves.

Secondly, knowing that their children are facing great pressures from work and raising kids, many parents would rather live alone or with their spouses than live with their children, so as not to increase the burden on their children.
