The Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes Digital Exhibition Center, which was opened in 2014, is an integral part of the conservation and utilization project of the Mogao Grottoes. The exhibition center enables visitors to know about the culture of the Mogao Grottoes and appreciate its art classics before entering the actual grottoes by adopting digital technology and multimedia presentations. This approach helps to limit the number of grottoes open to the public, reduce the duration of visitors’ stay inside and minimize the impact on the Mogao Grottoes, so as to ensure this world cultural heritage site is properly protected and sustainably utilized.
